Tassel Worth the Hassle: A Dream Graduation Party for Heather in Andover, Massachusetts
Planning a graduation party that celebrates all the hard work and achievements of your high school senior can be a challenge—especially in these post-COVID times. But with the right design and a bit of creativity, you can create an unforgettable celebration that leaves your graduate feeling truly special. I had the pleasure of designing and curating a stunning graduation party for Heather in Andover, Massachusetts. After a senior year that was anything but ordinary, Heather deserved a send-off that would honor her resilience and accomplishments.
Creating a Memorable Graduation Party Backdrop
The theme for Heather’s graduation party was inspired by the saying, "The tassel was worth the hassle." To start, I designed a fun and eye-catching photo booth backdrop featuring vibrant tassels—an essential for any graduation celebration! This added a playful yet meaningful touch, creating the perfect setting for memories that would last a lifetime.
To ensure the party had the perfect mix of style and comfort, I partnered with Refined Rentals. Their incredible showroom allowed me to hand-pick furniture and décor elements that reflected Heather’s unique personality. Wicker, wood, leather, and velvet created the perfect balance of boho chic and elegance, all tied together with a color palette of coral, salmon, light teal, and muted yellow. Heather wanted the space to feel calm and pretty without being overly feminine, and I believe we nailed the perfect look!
Personal Touches for a Truly Special Celebration
One of the most meaningful elements of Heather’s graduation party was the incorporation of sea glass, inspired by Heather’s college essay on the fragility of this beautiful material. To honor this, I created a custom station where guests could write words of advice or congratulations on large, colorful sea glass pieces. These glass fragments were later gifted to Heather, who would take them with her when she headed off to Elon University in the fall. It was a heartfelt way for everyone to leave a piece of themselves with Heather as she began her next chapter.
Customized Gifts for Guests
To make the celebration even more special, The Pop Shop was on-site creating custom college leather bracelets for guests. This interactive activity was a huge hit as guests wrapped leather with string in their school colors, creating a unique keepsake to remember the day. The college leather bracelets allowed everyone to take a part of the celebration home with them while also honoring Heather’s next big adventure.
