Jackie & Drew’s Oceanfront Wedding in Rhode Island: A Secret Garden by the Beach
As an event planner, one of the most rewarding aspects of my job is maintaining lasting relationships with the couples I work with. I had the privilege of working with Jackie and Drew, who tied the knot on the beautiful shores of Rhode Island. Their wedding day was full of personalized touches, beachside charm, and heartfelt moments that made it unforgettable. What makes it even more special is that in 2025, I was excited to hear from them once again—they introduced their second child, another beautiful baby girl!
A Love for the Ocean: Why Jackie & Drew Chose Rhode Island
Jackie and Drew’s story began at the University of New Hampshire, but it was their shared love for Rhode Island that brought them back to the ocean for their wedding. Growing up, both spent their summers at Narragansett Beach with their families, making it a special and sentimental place for them. Even though they now live in the South End of Boston while Drew pursues medical school, Rhode Island remains a place of connection and adventure. Their pup Charlie often accompanies them on their beach trips, and the couple hopes to call this coastal paradise home one day. For their wedding, there was no better place to tie the knot than by the ocean they adore.
Bringing Jackie’s Wedding Vision to Life
As an advertising sales professional who previously worked at a wedding magazine, Jackie had a clear vision for her big day long before she was engaged. With every detail thoughtfully planned, I was able to bring her ideas to life, and the result was a breathtaking celebration. One of the most special details was the directional sign Jackie and Drew made together, a personalized touch that guided guests to the ceremony and reception areas.
In addition, they chose light-up cocktail tables that added a modern and fun flair to the outdoor space, complementing the vibrant colors they had selected for the day. The bride also honored her grandfather by tying a piece of his yarmulke around her bouquet as her "something old," a touching tribute that added sentimental value to her special day.
Colorful Details and a Secret Garden by the Beach
Jackie and Drew’s wedding day had a clear theme: a secret garden by the beach. The couple chose soft pinks and greens to create a romantic, garden-inspired feel, while subtle touches of blue appeared throughout, representing their shared alma mater, the University of New Hampshire. From the UNH logo to the bride’s Carrie Bradshaw-inspired shoes and the ocean beyond, blue made its presence known in a fun and meaningful way.
Fun & Personal Touches That Made the Day Unique
One of the things that made Jackie and Drew’s wedding so memorable were the fun and personal touches that made their day uniquely theirs. As a late-night snack, the couple served personalized wrapped sliders, a nod to their love of good food and the need for some comfort after a night of dancing. Childhood pictures hung throughout the venue, adding a personal, nostalgic touch that guests loved. And for a fun twist, shark-shaped cookies were handed out as takeaways, keeping the beach vibe alive and ensuring guests left with a sweet memory.
The bridal party walkout song, a playful pick of “Good as Hell” by Lizzo, set the tone for a lively and fun celebration. And let’s not forget the unique wedding registry item: a chainsaw! It’s safe to say Jackie and Drew's wedding had personality and humor woven into every detail.
